New Products from Our Local Artisans

Naturally Unique‘s Tandoori, Wicked, Steak, and Chicken seasonings have been such a hit we have added two more to the list — Herb de Provence and Italian Spices! You can try them out in our small packets or purchase in a larger spice bottle.

  • Herb de Provence-this seasoning blend offers a fabulous floral experience. With lavender taking center stage, this can be used to season any vegetable or vegetable dish.  It also makes a great seasoning for vegetarian pizza in lieu of Italian seasoning. No salt added.
  • Italian-not just to season Italian dishes, this blend can also be used as a dipping blend with olive oil or to use as a seasoning with sauteed vegetables and garlic.  No salt added.

Jones Family Jams: What happens when we get fruit that isn’t up to FPP standards? We send it off to Jones Family Jams and they turn it into something delicious. Kristy has been stirring up some plum jam — made with organic ingredients, and peach mango jam.

Florida Avocado

Your Florida Avacodo was grown and harvested in South Florida – about 325 miles from most of our customers’ homes.

There are about 50 varieties of Avocado that grow, but the two main varieties in the US are the California (or Haas) Avocado and the less popular Florida Avocado. The Florida fruit has a smoother green skin with brown spots or streaks. The inside flesh is soft when ripe and has creamy, yet slightly thinner consistency than the Haas Avocado and the flavor is sweet but a bit more mild.

To store your avocado, place in a cool dry location, such as on your countertop away from direct sunlight. To speed up the ripening process place in a brown paper bag. However, if you need a longer shelf life place your Avocado in the refrigerator as this will slow the ripening process.

Avocados are versatile and can be eaten raw in sandwiches, used in dips, toppers on salads or even in baking. Because of the high fat content avocados can be substituted for butter. Below are some recipe ideas for your Florida Avocado this week:

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

Returning your produce box clean and undamaged means that we can use it again and again. This keeps costs down, minimizes landfill waste and keeps your carbon footprint smaller. Boxes that aren’t returned will incur a $5.00 replacement fee, so be sure to put it out for pickup!
