Veggie Unearthed: Napa Cabbage

Your organic napa cabbage came to us from Hoover Family Farm in Live Oak, FL — less than 100 miles from most of our customers’ homes.

One may not consider a cabbage to be “beautiful” – but if there’s one that might take the prize, it’s the Napa cabbage. This elegant oval with creamy white veining packs statistics that are just as pretty as it appears.

A cup of Napa cabbage is only 20 calories, but contains 46% of the vitamin C you need in a day! Of course it’s also got calcium, vitamin A, fiber and plenty of other goodness in store. Asian in origin, this veggie is the basis for many Asian dishes such as stir fries and kimchis, but is great for slaws, salads, rolls, wraps, or soups!

Sometimes turning good food into great food is just a matter of substitution. If you are new to Napa Cabbage, we suggest that you start by substituting the cabbage for the your favorite lettuce wrap recipe or for tortillas in tacos — creating a healthy, low carb alternative.
