Making Your Holiday a Little Bit Easier

We know that Thanksgiving is all about giving thanks. We also know that the hustle and bustle of the holiday can be overwhelming when preparing the big feast and entertaining out of town guests. Make your morning simple by laying out a bagel & muffin platter with cream cheese, jam and fruit. A hearty meal can now be self-serve!

Making dessert is easy too with Apple and Pecan Pie Fillings from Jones Family Jams and a Crisp recipe provided by our friend Chef Mark Moran of CSX-Sodexo.

  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup oats
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
Mix ingredients together with hands.  Break up butter until pea size and evenly distributed. Top pie filling and cook at 325 degrees for 20-30 minutes. Bon Appetite!

Last but not least, don’t forget the leftovers. Be sure to add Village Bread pitas or ciabatta hoagies and a Fresh Jax Mustard to turn up the spice on your leftover turkey sandwiches!
Wishing you a happy & delicious Thanksgiving!

10 Free Thanksgiving Boxes for Families in Need

We appreciate your patronage and are overwhelmed by the generosity of spirit our customers express throughout the year. We know that we are all enjoying this time of giving and we’d like to do what we can to help those less fortunate in our community. During next week’s Thanksgiving deliveries, we will be giving away absolutely free local farm boxes to ten families.

If you know of a family in need, email us at fp@frontporchpickings.com. We’ll donate these bins ABSOLUTELY FREE to the family of your choice and you’ll know that there’s a family eating fresh, local food for Thanksgiving. First come, first served. The only rule is that requests must come from current FPP customers.

In addition to our 10 free boxes, we have put together a mini Thanksgiving Box for $18.00. Give your friends and loved ones the gift of “holiday fixin’s”. The box is packed separately and ready for you to deliver. The contents includes Butterleaf Lettuce, Beets, Green Kale, Green Beans, Sweet Potatoes and Fall Glow Tangerines, and a handful of tangerines. Add your own flare by topping it off with jam, grits, or other items from our shop. Just add the items to your order and pack it in before delivering. Sorry no substitutions in this box.
