Interested in Receiving Meat & Milk with Your Delivery?

We are interested in adding humanely raised, grass fed beef from White Oak Pastures, pasture raised chicken from Lake Meadows Naturals, and pasteurized, non-homogenized milk (cream top) from the happy cows at Wainwright Farm. We’d like to know how likely you are to order local meat and milk with your current delivery. Below is information from each of the farms we have hand selected for our business. Please take a moment to fill out the short survey below!Milk-HalfGallon

White Oaks Pastures: located in Bluffton, GA and owned by the Harris Family, this family also operates one of only two on-farm USDA-inspected abattoirs in the country. One family, one farm, five generations, 150 years – A full circle return to sustainable land stewardship and humane animal stockmanship! White Oak Pastures cooperates with nature to produce artisan products, ensuring that all of their production practices are fair, sustainable, and humane.

Lake Meadows Naturals:  located in Ocoee, FL, is owned and farmed by Dale Volkert. All chickens are free-range, roaming pastures and eating bugs! He feeds good quality, vegeterian feed and does not use antibiotics. With his passion for clean and humanely produced food, Dale expanded Lake Meadow Naturals visibility by joining Slow Foods Orlando.

Wainwright Dairy:  a 300+ acres dairy farm located in Live Oak, FL, is owned and operated by the Wainwright family.  Their farm produces milk and cheese “the way God intended” — all natural. The farm uses no hormones or antibiotics and their grasses are non-GMO crops . The happy cows graze in the pasture except for when they are being milked twice a day.

Thanks for helping!

Veggie Unearthed: Collard Greens

 Cumcumber_Pickling600

Your Pickling Cucumbers are coming to us from Blue Sky Farm of Hastings, FL — less than 100 miles from most of our customers homes.

Pickling cucumbers are short, squat cucumbers with smaller seeds than a regular cucumber. They are typically dark green on one or both ends and lighter in the middle, with bumps running down the sides. What gives this cucumber it “pickling” preference is it’s skin. The thinner skin allows vinegar, brine, or other picklingsolutions to penetrate through and flavor the inside flesh. But don’t worry, if pickling is not your thing, just use these cucumbers as you would a salad cucumber! Throw them on top of a salad or in your water with lemon. Just one cup contains only 17 calories.

For the best results, pickle your cucumbers as soon as possible…”pick to pickle” as they say. But if you need to store the them until you have time on your hands, place the veggies in the crisper drawer of your refrigerator to keep them fresh.
