Veggie Unearthed: North Carolina Apples

Ahhh, the end of summer brings in the sweet taste of apples. Each year we bring in our regional apples from North Carolina orchards. Our organic domestic options will be right around the corner. In the U.S., organic apples generally come from the north and the northwest, as the low humidity and cooler temps make the fight against bugs and disease much easier to battle than down here in the south.

You probably don’t need much help figuring out what to do with apples, as they are a staple in most kitchens. Just be sure to store them in the crisper drawer to keep fresh and to maximize their shelf life. No real need for recipes — Take em out and bite right in! But if you are looking for a few recipes to change things up a bit we have included a little variety below:

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

Returning your produce box clean and undamaged means that we can use it again and again. This keeps costs down, minimizes landfill waste and keeps our carbon footprint smaller. Boxes that aren’t returned will incur a $5.00 replacement fee, so be sure to put it out for pickup!
