New Blends from Yaupon Asi Tea!

Yaupon Asi Tea is grown, harvested, and packaged right in our back yard. Originally known as “Asi” to the Timucua Indians of North and Central Florida, this tea was used in the most revered ceremonies, limited to high-status tribal elders and guests. Thanks to New Smyrna residents (and brothers), Bryon and Kyle, who have brought Yaupon Asi Tea to all of us — no matter our status. And now the “Original Tea of Florida” comes in flavors! We are excited to add Chocolate Chai Tea and Coconut Lavender Tea to our shop. Both teas will be available for your next delivery.

Chocolate Chai Tea: Spicy and aromatic, this classic chai has all the subtle notes of Yaupon. The light chocolate flavor is not overpowering, but present in the nose and the finish. Ingredients include Organic Fire-roasted Yaupon, Cardamom Pods, Ginger, Rooibos, Dark Chocolate, Natural Chocolate Flavor.

Coconut Lavender: Strong tropical aroma to the nose, this tea has honey and hay characteristic of Florida Yaupon with notes of lavender and coconut. It’s refreshing and delicious! Ingredients include a combination of wild-crop Yaupon, Red Rooibos, Coconut Flake, and Summer Lavender, and Organic Essential Oils.

What’s not to love? Its completely LOCAL, NATIVE, and SUSTAINABLE! Yaupon is part of the Holly Family and is native to a few southern states, including Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana, and Texas. Yaupon Asi Tea uses 100% Florida grown leaves, harvested in Volusia County. The leaves are roasted or dried to make a  smooth and mild flavored tea that is naturally caffeinated and rich in antioxidants. Because there are nearly no tannins, the tea has a natural sweetness and is never bitter.

You will find Yaupon Asi Teas in our online store!

Veggie Unearthed: Mini Cucumbers

Your mini cucumbers came to us from Beli Farms in Wellbourn, FL — less than 100 miles from most of our customers’ homes.

Grown in a greenhouse from non-GMO German seeds, Beli Farms offers cucumbers months before they are available in the fields. We generally include mini cukes in our boxes from January through July of each year. With less than 10 calories per half cup, this mild flavored veggie is a perfect for snacking. Pair with hummus, add to a smoothie, or top your salads with these crunchy little guys. No need for cooking! However, did you know that you could bake cucumbers? Julia Childs put together a couple of variations: Baked Parslied Cucumbers and Baked Creamed Cucumber recipes!

Do not store your cucumbers on the counter as they will get soft very quickly. Cucumbers can stay fresh and crisp for about 5-7 days, but only if you store in the veggie drawer of your refrigerator. They can also be frozen if they are prepared in brine prior to freezing. You can get more information on freezing cucumbers in this step by step recipe at
