Please make a note that there will be NO Veggie Bin delivery the week of Christmas (December 26 & 27). If you would have received your bin on the 26/27th of December, you will receive it the 2/3rd. If you are scheduled for the 2/3rd, you will receive your bin on January 9/10th.
If you’re traveling this holiday season, suspending your Veggie Bin deliveries is easy. Simply email us at firstname.lastname@example.org by 5 p.m. the Monday before you need to suspend. We can only credit you if you let us know by that time, otherwise we’ll have already ordered your produce! Temporary suspension of deliveries is available year-round, so when you’re on the move, let us know!
Daniel Foundation Toy Drive
The Veggie Bin will participate in the Daniel Wish Granters Holiday Drive again this year. If you would like to contribute, please place an unwrapped new toy in a gift bag along with your empty boxes and we’ll deliver your contribution to Daniel. The last date we’ll be picking these up will be December 12-13. To learn more about this children’s foundation or to make a monetary contribution, please visit the Daniel website. Thank you!
These shiny beauties are a versatile veggie, but did you know they are actually classified as a berry? It’s a member of the gothy-sounding nightshade family, along with potatoes and tomatoes. Low in calories and chock full of calcium, potassium and vitamin C, this veggie is a great addition to the table during cold & flu season!
Store your eggplant in the veggie drawer in your fridge and use it within 2-3 days. If you store it too long, it can become bitter. Many people who don’t like eggplant have experienced the bitterness of older eggplants. Today’s eggplant varieties have little, if any, bitter flavor when fresh. If you have any doubts, minimize any bitter flavors by “sweating” your eggplant. Slice it up, sprinkle it with salt and allow it to sit for 20-30 minutes. Please watch this helpful video to see this demonstrated.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
Returning your bin clean and undamaged means that we can use it again and again. This keeps costs down, minimizes landfill waste and keeps your carbon footprint smaller. Bins that aren’t returned will incur a replacement fee, so be sure to put it out for pickup!
